Streszczenia
In 2017, a publication by the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) introduced the acronym LEADERS to define what good leaders do, which they outlined as: Learn, Empower, Adapt, Delegate, Engage, Reflect, and Serve. However, since 2019, the COVID-19 Pandemic has pushed the field to expand upon existing practices and definitions, embracing the topics of social-emotional learning, wellbeing, and trust as core issues of leadership and leaders. These aspects help leaders experience unforeseen challenges and also assist at other times when outcomes may be clearer. For example, leaders could be working with a team that is ready to go from the start, or with a team that needs to work on relationships before being able to move toward goals. This chapter provides an overview of different methods for successful leadership in TESOL through scenarios in work related to (1) helping educators or staff achieve performance goals, (2) committees, (3) conference planning, and (4) scholarship.
