Protection of public health is the primary objective of European Union normative acts regulating the pharmaceutical market. Pharmaceutical safety refers primarily to ensuring patients’ access to pharmaceutical products in a broad sense, with particular emphasis on high-quality medicinal products. The SARS-COV 2 virus pandemic has intensified the initiatives of the European Commission to develop new solutions in the event of a crisis, as well as to regain the independence of the EU pharmaceutical industry, currently dependent on manufacturers of active substances and even finished medicinal products from Asia. On the one hand, Polish regulations implement the provisions of the directives, and on the other hand, legal solutions have been introduced to ensure uninterrupted pharmacotherapy for patients.
