This article deals with the concept of the pedification model. It is compared to the current notification of accent levels in the German Pronunciation Database (DAD). First, the basic terms such as phonological syllable, foot and phonological word are explained and embedded in the context of the previous codification work. The relevance for German as a stress timed language is then outlined. The pedification model is exemplified using some lemmas. Finally, the possible application of this model in the research work on the DAD is discussed.
